Atelier KIPU is a Canberra based architecture practice founded by Alanna King and Fernando Pino in 2021. With over 18 years of experience in architecture, heritage, museology, public art and sustainably, Atelier KIPU provide a multidisciplinary approach and expertise. Valuing collaboration, diversity and authenticity in the production of high-quality design and professional advice. Collectively, we have worked with national cultural institutions, international diplomatic missions, community organisations, local governments and individuals to deliver projects that make a unique and positive contribution to climate, community and culture. Architecture is more than just buildings, spaces and places but a social and civic endeavour, we believe that architects are citizens first.

Alanna King

Registered architect and heritage consultant with 18 years’ experience in the profession working on sustainability, heritage, diplomatic, government and cultural projects. Experienced in leading and working within multidisciplinary teams, preparing advice and project briefing material, developing architectural design and documentation, driving procurement outcomes, writing conservation management plans, providing technical and strategic advice, and consulting with diverse stakeholder groups to achieve positive real-world outcomes.

Fernando Pino

Registered architect with 20 years’ experience in the profession working on museology, public realm, art and exhibition, retail and multi-residential projects. An artist with an art practice that spans over 26 years, exhibiting work both nationally and internationally. Experienced in museum and gallery environments, cross-disciplinary collaboration with artistic, engineering and landscape disciplines. Working with/in government, developing strategies, design and documentation for a diversity of project types, driving efficient procurement, creative and agile design methodologies. As an educator he has taught visual arts in Santiago, Chile and lectured and tutored in Architecture and Interior Architecture at University of Technology Sydney, University of New South Wales and University of Canberra.
